Don’t be afraid of fat. The right kind of fat in the right amount is your friend.
Some of the best sources of healthy fats include the following:
- olive oil
- coconut oil
- avocados
- nuts/seeds
- krill oil
- raw dairy
- pastured eggs
Add some protein. I always remind my patients to include protein in their diet. Women tend to shy away from protein and fill up on leafy greens for fear of gaining weight. But you need proteins to help you burn calories and keep your immune system revved up. Did you know that antibodies are specialized proteins that help defend the body from illness and bacteria. Proteins are necessary for cell division which is vital in healing and growth, and proteins in the form of hormones and enzymes regulate chemical reactions in the body.
Relax. Prolonged stress is a real immune killer. Have you ever noticed that you get sick after a stressful period in your life. Stress also wreaks havoc on your smile. Take time even if it’s a few minutes to check in with yourself breath and let go of the day. Meditation is a great way to nurture yourself
Looking for ways to boost your immune system easily. Yes my favorite meal especially in the winter is the winner. SOUP! A healing soup can be your first step in maintaining your health and preventing illness. When you slowly simmer foods over low heat, you gently leach out the energetic and therapeutic properties of the foods, preserving the nutritional value of the food and making it easier for your body to assimilate the nutrients.
